The mission of the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture is to advance arts, culture, and creativity throughout LA County. We fulfill our mission by providing services and support in areas including grants and technical assistance for nonprofit organizations; professional development opportunities; commissioning civic artworks and managing the County’s civic art collection; implementing countywide arts education initiatives; research and evaluation; career pathways in the creative economy; free community programs; and cross sector creative strategies that address civic issues. This work is framed by the County’s Cultural Equity and Inclusion Initiative and a longstanding commitment to fostering access to the arts.
Holiday Celebration - A Gift to the People of Los Angeles
Leading up to the 57th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration, Splash Magazines reported on the history of the free three-hour celebration and interviewed Adam Davis, managing director of productions, about how the show comes together, what he loves best about working on the Holiday Celebration and details about the 2016 show.
We have chosen a real spectrum of talented Los Angeles performers. For example, we have an all-female mariachi band, some great children’s choruses, a taste of contemporary dance, a couple of gospel choirs, and an all-brass band playing holiday music. We do the best we can to represent as many cultural groups and holiday traditions as possible. This is really a celebration of what Los Angeles’ many communities do for the holidays.
