Come and work as an Arts Administration Intern for one of LA County's fasting-growing opera companies, Mission Opera! You will learn the inside scoop on what makes a successful performing arts organization in a post-pandemic environment, as you get meaningful, wide-ranging exposure to all artistic and operational levels. You will work hands-on with our Social Media Manager, learning how to acquire marketing skills across social media and beyond. You will assist the Executive Director and learn the day-to-day administrative operations of the organization. Our internships engage participants in process-oriented projects that develop behind-the-scenes skills and marketable competencies that are broadly translatable to the job market within the arts nonprofit sector and beyond, such as database management, maintaining ticketing platforms, assisting in the creation of a marketing plan, calendar, and materials for promoting the season, and more. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week from July 2024 through December 2024.
The ideal intern candidate will: Possess an interest in music, theater, opera and/or performing arts; Possess excellent verbal, written and organizational skills; Act responsibly and with a friendly and professional demeanor; Be inquisitive and willing to learn new skills; Connect with a diverse array of community members; Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Windows Office Suite, Wix, and Google Drive; Demonstrate a comfort level with all major social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube; Be a self-started who can work with independently; Learn quickly and multitask; Respect and maintain confidentiality. Mission Opera values intellectual curiosity and ability to offer a fresh perspective/ideas to accomplish tasks and realize goals. Candidates should be prepared to work evenings and weekends, especially during production weeks. Some remote work will be allowed.
Mission Opera is a 501(c)3 performing arts and educational nonprofit. We strive to produce high-quality, accessible opera and musical theater, to provide members of the community the opportunity to participate at all levels of these productions, and to afford both participants and audiences enjoyment and a deeper appreciation of opera and musical theater. Our educational outreach initiatives bring opera and musical theater into the schools and teach children about the importance of music and the arts.
