The Programs Intern will play a crucial role in supporting Arts Bridging The Gap’s Fall 2024 programming and community mural painting days. Joining a small, but mighty team of changemakers, the intern will provide on-the-ground support for mural projects, classes, and ongoing community workshops. This position will contribute to the planning process, logistics, and execution of each mural, as well as other events within ABG’s four core programs. Arts Bridging The Gap is looking for an organized, creative thinker, who has a long-term interest in arts education and social justice. The intern will work part time, 20-30 hours per week, from approximately August through February 2025 via a hybrid remote and in person schedule. The intern will have the week of Thanksgiving and approximately two weeks off over the holiday season.
Beyond the required qualifications of the grant program, competitive candidates for ABG’s Programs Internship will have: passion and respect for the arts and culture sector, specifically in how the arts can be utilized and activated to inspire social change. Candidates with excellent organizational and time management skills, experience in or a strong interest in non-profit arts management, knowledge of Mac/PC operating systems and proficiency in Google Office Suite, Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, Zoom, Canva, and Docusign are encouraged to apply. The intern must have access to reliable transportation, an active CA driver’s license, personal vehicle, and valid car insurance. The Intern will be expected to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and empathy for fellow coworkers and program participants. Familiarity with visual arts, public art, and/or social justice is a plus.
Arts Bridging The Gap (ABG) envisions a world in which all youth are empowered to become changemakers. The organization is devoted to ensuring that young people have direct access to arts and cultural activities, regardless of their circumstances. By offering accessible spaces for individuals to engage in the creation of public art and activism in their own neighborhoods, ABG centers the arts as an essential piece of healing individual and collective trauma. With program offerings for elementary, middle, and high schoolers, the organization encourages young people to participate in their hyper-local communities, thereby contributing to the holistic, authentic transformation of LA’s most under-resourced neighborhoods.
