Presenter

Irene Georgia Tsatsos is a visual artist with a daily practice of writing and drawing, which inform works rendered in clay, textiles, books, and video. She is a values-driven arts professional with experience in program development, leadership, and administrative oversight. From October 2010 through June 2023, Irene served as Director of Exhibition Programs and Chief Curator at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, CA. From 1997 until 2005, she was director/curator of Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, and has held curatorial and research positions at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Getty. She has published extensively, served on numerous award and programmatic panels nationally, and has taught writing and curatorial practice at Claremont Graduate University, University of Southern California, California Institute of the Arts, and My Friends Place, a social service agency that assists unhoused and marginalized youth. Irene earned a BA from Antioch College in Yellow Springs OH, a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MA from CalArts. She is on the board of directors of Children’s Community School and is a member of the board and was the founding chair of Feminist (Formerly Women’s) Center for Creative Work in Los Angeles.
