Description

The ACAM intern position is at an arts education non-profit serving over 150 youth 4-17 years of age through tuition-free after-school classes in dance, theater and music. Intern duties will include making a grant schedule, organizing existing text used for grants, researching possible grants, compiling data for grants, writing grants, composing appeal material, and documenting programs via photo and video for fundraising and marketing efforts. This position will work approximately 15 hours a week, 3pm-8pm M-F from June 10, 2024 through December 15, 2024.

Qualifications

Good writing and verbal skills

Knowledge of Word, Excel, Canva, Google Spreadsheets

Basic graphic design

Detail-oriented

Passion for music, arts and dance

Background

Angelica Center for Arts and Music (ACAM) provides tuition-free classes in dance: baile folklorico, ballet, modern dance; music: cello, chorus, drums, flute, guitar, electric guitar, musicianship/theory, piano, recorder, trombone, trumpet, violin; theatre; and computer arts. The program consists of over 150 - 200 youth, ages 4-17. Fourteen (14) highly qualified ACAM teaching artists, selected because of their training, expertise, teaching and performance experience, and their sincere interest in working with underprivileged youth, teach 83 group classes and 12 piano lessons weekly. Youth perform on site and in the community five to twelve or more times a year. ACAM is a member of El Sistema USA and believes in striving for excellence, family-oriented programming, students mentoring students, and frequent performances.
