The Production Intern will be a key member of the team behind the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival, an entire summer of classical theater presented free to thousands of Angelenos. The intern will serve as the Assistant Stage Manager for one production of the Festival. The intern’s duties during rehearsal process include note taking, being responsible for props and other assigned tasks that support the Stage Manager, Director, Producers and Designers. For the run of the production, the intern will be apart of the backstage team each night of performances. This position will work approximately 40 hours a week from June to September.
The intern should have a great interest in theater-making. The intern must possess strong interpersonal skills, time-management skills, be a team player, a problem solver, and a self-starter. The intern should have a basic understanding of the production process; prior stage management experience is preferable. The intern should be collaborative, flexible, positive, and enthusiastic, and not be afraid to get their hands dirty. Light carpentry skills and basic sewing skills are assets. Evening and weekend hours are required. Reliable transportation is required.
