MashUp seeks a dynamic, proactive intern, who is inspired by the company’s mission to lift feminist ideologies and build community through dance. The intern should have a strong awareness of the conversations, conflicts, and situations that largely affect the female-identifying community and general understanding of the performing arts. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, for the intern will be building relationships with community organizations, volunteers, in kind, and monetary sponsors. This position will work full time from June-August 2022 to support the company’s National Women’s Equality Day program. Individuals with experience working in community building, volunteering, program management, and/or organizational development are encouraged to apply. The intern needs to be focused, detail oriented, and flexible. General office administration and computer skills, including but not limited to proficiency in Google Suite, Dropbox, and zoom is required.
Applicants with event planning experience, including coordinating community partners, volunteers, and sponsorship management are encouraged to apply to this role, for this position will provide hands-on experience with in person and virtual program management. Applicants should have extensive research experience, whether that be in an academic or professional setting, and interest in the Los Angeles arts and cultural sector is preferred. The Intern must demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with standard performing arts production practices is a plus. Undergraduates who are majoring in dance or related arts are encouraged to apply, for the company hopes to provide opportunities for these students to expand their skillsets, thereby creating future leaders in the arts and culture field.
