The SMYO Education Intern will work closely with faculty to build curriculum for our music education programs, as well plan and lead non-classroom activities. You will learn about syllabus planning, classroom management skills, and how to work with fellow educators to successfully plan curriculum for multiple age and skill levels. This position will work approximately 20 hours a week from June -December.
This position requires an interest in arts education, and previous experience working with children. Spanish language speakers encouraged.
Santa Monica Youth Orchestra's mission is to provide a diverse, inclusive, integrative music program that engages young people, ages 5-18, from all cultural and economic backgrounds. Striving to eliminate as many barriers to entry into music as possible, SMYO’s weekly program is tuition-free, without auditions, and open to any young musician who can commit to weekly rehearsals. Our Opus World Music summer camp introduces students to music and arts from cultures all over the world.
