Sierra Madre Playhouse (SMP) is seeking a PRODUCTION INTERN who is ready to kickstart a career in performing arts production! Prepare to dive into an exciting range of activities designed to cultivate your professional skills as SMP gears up for its 2024 season. As PRODUCTION INTERN, you will work closely with SMP's Executive Director, Technical Director, and Production Manager, who possess 50+ years of combined professional experience in mentorship and the performing arts. You will play an important role in bringing artistic vibrancy to our stage as you gain hands-on experience in production coordination, stage management, lighting and sound equipment operation, and costume and set maintenance. This experience will also translate into skills development critical to arts production, including event management, creative problem-solving, communication, working within a diverse team, time management, and more. This position will work 15 to 20 hours per week from July through November.
The ideal candidate will: - Possess an interest in the performing arts and arts access; - Possess excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills; - Act responsibly and with a friendly and professional demeanor; - Be inquisitive and willing to learn new skills; - Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Windows Office Suite and Google Workspace; - Apply acquired knowledge about SMP in daily interactions with staff; Candidates should be motivated, sociable, collegial, dependable, and adaptable team players. SMP values fresh perspectives/ideas to accomplish tasks and realize goals. Candidates will be offered a flexible weekly schedule based on the interns schedule and to be coordinated with leadership. Some remote work will be allowed.
