Description

The Community Engagement Intern will be primarily responsible for working with the Community Programs department to compile a comprehensive calendar and map of events and meetings hosted by partner arts and social service organizations in the South LA community. This project will contribute to the organization’s efforts to establish our presence in South LA and provide culturally responsive and relevant programming to the surrounding community from our new campus. Responsibilities may include researching organizations and stakeholders across social media platforms, supporting in scheduling and attending meetings/events with partners, and creating and maintaining our community resources newsletter. This position will work approximately 15-20 hours a week from August through March and can be amended to accommodate the intern’s school schedule.
 

Qualifications

Desired qualifications: Demonstrated passion for creating access to arts education; - Ability to work with students from diverse communities in a classroom or group setting; - Ability to communicate complicated details clearly and effectively; - An interest in challenging Euro-centric structures inherent in the music education system; - An interest in exploring traditional and modern intersections of music across diverse cultural perspectives; - Ability to write and speak in Spanish is preferred; - Possess basic knowledge of music and a high level of organizational, multitasking, and office suite skills (Apple OS, Google Suite); - An interest in educational methodologies and practices.
