LA County Free Summer Concerts

As a border performer born in El Paso, Texas and growing up in Mexico City, Dr. Gloria Arjona crosses various languages, disciplines and music styles to carry on an musical mission that aims to educate and entertain. During her interactive lectures, Dr. Arjona combines live music, media, traditional attire and Tableaux Vivants (living pictures) to address racial and gender issues. Dr. Arjona can perform solo, singing and playing acoustic guitar, or as part of a duo, trio or quartet with keyboards, bass, drums, and other performers.

Lisa’s family-friendly original tunes and Louisiana, French Celtic, R&B and jazz rhythms represented modern Zydeco for the U.S. Arts Program inSir George Martin’s film, Rhythm of Life, and the group has played festivals in over 20 countries This fourth-generation fiddler, dancer and three-octave vocalist makes audiences laugh, cry and--above all--dance!
In surf lingo, hodad means “one who poses as a surfer.” Though none of the members of this party band would be caught dead on a surfboard, rest assured that these talented entertainers are no pretenders. The Hodads combine high energy music, stylish outfits, celebrity impersonations and audience participation into extraordinary performances.
This band's repertoire spans seven decades and includes a choice of classic covers, rare gems and award-winning original songs. Floyd & the Flyboys' unique sound is influenced by traditional soul, blues, funk, New Orleans R&B and roots rock.
The Susie Hansen Band plays Afro-Cuban Latin jazz and salsa with Susie Hansen on electric jazz violin and vocals. Her band has three lead vocalists, a dynamic Latin rhythm section and a horn section of tenor sax/flute, trombone and trumpet. They play great danceable salsa, cumbia, merengue, Latin jazz, mambo, cha cha cha, charanga, bolero, samba and more. They're a well-known and popular group in Southern California, playing 150 events per year since 1990. As Susie likes to say, “We aim for the feet!” They keep the dance floor full!
This group of individual mariachi musicians is truly an all-star mariachi made up of the best around the world. Many of Mariachi Espectacular’s members also produce, compose, arrange and record. Grammy Award-winning producer Beto Jimenez's idea when forming the group was to bring the highest level of mariachi talent together. They have recorded one CD entitled "Pura Tradicion." This is an all-male group, but able to add in a female vocalist/musician to the ensemble upon request.
Michael Haggins Group combines jazz and R&B to generate a smooth funk sound. The group plays original music and cover tunes of songs by Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Sade and R&B classics from the '70s and '80s. The group has performed at the Playboy Jazz Festival, the legendary Spaghettini Grill & Jazz Club in Seal Beach, and many other Southern California events and festivals, such as those presented by 94.7 The Wave and KJLH radio station. Michael is a successful contemporary bass player and songwriter from Pasadena with major music placements of his original songs.
Other Mother Brother Band (OMBB) is an eclectic instrumental short-form jam band based out of Los Angeles. OMBB weaves together influences from bluegrass, world, Latin jazz, reggae, rock, funk and classical music to form a singular sound that has delighted audiences from Southern California to Yosemite to Colorado.

Conganas is a powerful Latin jazz and salsa quartet who effectively accomplishes the sound of a full ensemble with a versatility that allows them to play styles such as cumbia, merengue, jazz, and pop.
